BUSINESS USE OF PERSONAL VEHICLES POLICY

PURPOSE

The purpose of this policy is to inform University employees that reimbursement is required for business use of personal vehicles.

SCOPE

This policy applies to all University employees, including those on the regional campuses.

POLICY

When a vehicle is unavailable from the Motor Pool, employees may find it necessary to use their personal vehicle to conduct University business. Personal vehicle use must be authorized by the supervisor and employees must be reimbursed based upon the applicable mileage rate. This rate can be found in the WV Travel Regulations. A component of the mileage rate is reimbursement for miscellaneous maintenance and insurance costs for the personal vehicle, therefore all automobile insurance is the responsibility of the employee.
