Glacier Tax Prep Information

Attention International Students and Employees

WVU Tax Services and International Students and Scholars Services are pleased to announce that GLACIER Tax Prep will be available again this year for our international students and employees to aid in the filing of your federal tax return for the 2021 tax season.  WVU provides this software free of charge to our international students and employees.

Forms 1042-S issued to foreign nationals who have received a tax treaty benefit or were subject to alien tax (ATAX) have been issued by Tax Services and will be mailed on Wednesday, March 2, 2022.  Forms W-2 for employment earnings were mailed on or before January 31, 2022.  If you are a nonresident alien for income tax purposes, a Form 1098-T will not be issued as per IRS guidelines.

To access the GLACIER Tax Prep software, please visit  To obtain the common access code, please e-mail WVU Tax Services at .  Please be aware that under the WVU license agreement, the GLACIER Tax Prep is available only for WVU international students and/or employees. Please do not provide the common access code to non-WVU individuals in any manner.

The common access code will only be provided via e-mail to valid,, and e-mail addresses. We will not provide the common access code over the phone. When requesting the common access code, please include your WVUID number, date of birth, and most recent entry date into the United States.

WVU Tax Services cannot provide you with personal tax filing advice nor assist you in preparing your individual tax return.

As a reminder, GLACIER Tax Prep is only for individuals that are considered a nonresident alien for income tax purposes during the 2021 tax year.  If you are a resident alien for income tax purposes or married to a US citizen, you cannot use the GLACIER Tax Prep software.  If you are unsure of your tax status in 2021, contact WVU Tax Services or via email at and we will assist you with determining your tax status.
