Form W-2 Information

Current Year Form W-2

Forms W-2 for wages earned in calendar year 2025 will be mailed to the employee home address on file for all WVU faculty, staff, graduate assistants, and student workers — including WVU Potomac State College, WVU Tech at Beckley and WVU Parkersburg — on or before February 2, 2026.

Current year Forms W-2 are also available online for current WVU employees through the MyHR tab in the WVU Portal. You must be connected to the WVU Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access your W-2 through Portal. You must also have an active WVU Login account. Detailed instructions on accessing your W-2 electronically can be found in the WVU Shared Services Center Knowledge Base.

Beginning in tax year 2025, the One, Big, Beautiful Bill Act (OBBBA) allows employees who received qualified overtime compensation to potentially deduct the portion of their pay that exceeds their regular pay for overtime hours worked. The OBBBA does NOT potentially permit a deduction of all overtime dollars earned, only the amount paid in excess of an employee's regular rate of pay (the "half" amount in the "time and a half" calculation). The OBBBA requires employers to provide hourly employees with their potentially qualifying overtime wages. WVU has reported this amount for employees with overtime wages in Box 14 on their 2025 Form W-2 and marked the amount with "OT" for overtime. Please see the IRS website or contact a professional tax consultant or advisor to determine your eligibility and for any questions you have concerning this potential tax deduction.

Please note: WVU Tax Services cannot provide personal tax advice or assist in preparing personal income tax returns. Please contact a professional tax consultant or advisor for individual tax advice.

Duplicate and Past Year Form W-2 Requests

If you do not have a current WVU Login account, or if you need a copy of a prior year's Form W-2, please contact Tax Services to request an electronic copy. For verification purposes, be sure to provide:
  • Your name,
  • A contact telephone number,
  • The month and year of your birth, and
  • Your WVUID (if you do not remember your WVUID, you can look it up using WVU Login Self-Service; this service works for both current and ex-employees).
For your protection, do not provide your Social Security number via email when requesting your W-2.

Address Updates for Form W-2 Mailing

Current WVU employees can update their mailing address for Form W-2 purposes through the WVU Portal (VPN connection required). Detailed instructions on updating addresses through Portal can be found in the WVU Shared Services Center Knowledge Base. Former employees can submit a Change of Address request to update their W-2 mailing address. Address updates for W-2 mailing should be submitted prior to the end of the calendar year. Address updates submitted after the end of the calendar year may not be processed in time for W-2 mailing.
